Valerie Crenshaw is the Founder and CEO of Boujee Botanicals, a brand she created after realizing that true self-care starts with what we put on our bodies. Her mission is simple: intentional ingredients, elevated simplicity, and products made with care.

My Story:

Three years ago, I stood at a crossroads with my body, my health, and my spirit. At my heaviest weight of 200.6 pounds, I was struggling deeply with PCOS, postpartum weight retention after having both of my children, and hormones that felt completely out of balance. No matter what I tried, strict diets, six days a week in the gym, even working with a personal trainer, nothing worked. More importantly, I didn’t recognize the woman staring back at me in the mirror. I didn’t like how I felt on the inside or the outside, and I knew something had to change.

 

I reached a moment of surrender and asked myself a simple but powerful question: There has to be another way. A better way. What I didn’t expect was that the answer would be so simple, so satisfying, that it almost didn’t make sense.

 

One day, while scrolling TikTok in search of any solution, I came across a woman named Barbara O’Neill speaking about castor oil, mineral salts, and natural herbs, how they support the body’s ability to heal itself from the inside out. That moment sparked a deep awakening. I took an intentional deep dive into all things natural, all things holistic, things that, in the 21st century, are often dismissed or frowned upon.

 

Through that journey, I learned something that changed everything: 

What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on your body. And since our skin is the largest organ we have, I began reading every label. I mean, really reading them. What I found made my stomach turn. Products on everyday shelves were filled with chemicals, toxins, and ingredients linked to long-term harm. I knew I couldn’t ignore that truth.

 

Not knowing where to begin, I turned to YouTube videos, online classes, and eventually attended an in-person body butter class with a close group of girlfriends. That experience lit something inside me. I felt fulfilled in a way I hadn’t felt in years. When I got home, showered, and applied my first handmade creation to my skin, I knew, this is it. This was the game changer.

 

The next day, I wore it to work. One by one, coworkers stopped me, asking what I was wearing, then asking if I could make some for them. It was them, my community, who encouraged me to start my own business.

 

Boujee Botanicals was born from that calling.

 

This brand is rooted in transparency, intention, and alignment. I wanted to create products where what you read is exactly what you get, no cryptic language, no ingredients that require a dictionary or an encyclopedia to decode. Every butter and oil is thoughtfully crafted to nourish the skin, elevate vibration, and support chakra alignment, effortlessly and naturally, just as the Most High intended.

 

Boujee Botanicals isn’t just skincare. It’s a return to self. A reminder that healing can be gentle, luxurious, and honest, all at the same time.
